We are staying at the Cinque Terre Hostel in Manarola. Since neither Greg or I have ever stayed in a hostel, we thought it would be a fun experience to have - we had heard that all ages are welcome in hostels. Well, we've only seen people our age at the Cinque Terre Hostel. There is a large German hiking group that is here as well - even though I can't understand their language, it is apparent from the laughter and animated conversation they are having a wonderful times as well.
We are staying in a room for 6 with our own bathroom - it actually is very comfortable. We have come down each morning for breakfast (5 euros a person) - you can see from the pictures that Greg and I fit in more age wise than Steve and Jessica.
I also added a picture of one portion of the street that we had to walk up to to get to the hostel - the road up from the train station actually does several switchbacks before you reach the hostel. Hopefully you'll get an idea of how steep and intense the walking is in the Cinque Terre towns.
This morning we are checking out of the hostel and then are headed off to Florence. We have to take two trains - we have learned from our experience the other day not have any expectations about what time we will actually get there!
P.S. The picture on the top of our blog is from Vernazza, one of the five Cinque Terre towns. It is fun to think that we have actually been there now!
Great trip! Some fantastic sites to get some good exercise!! Blessings on the rest of your trip!!
