Today we took a driving trip to Aix en Provence which is about 30 minutes away from Lourmarin. Rose, the owner of the apartment we are staying in, gave us a backroads way to drive that took us through the unbelievably beautiful countryside of Provence. It is so amazing to me how undeveloped it is - no billboards, no big strip malls - it looks just like I image it looked a hundred years ago.We spent time walking around the historic center of Aix en Provence - once again, it was a beautiful day. Paul Cezanne, the famous French Impressionist painter, was born in and made his home in Aix en Provence - the picture of the wood door is of the home where Paul Cezanne died.
