Wednesday - A Day in Pisa

On Wednesday, we took a day trip to Pisa. We walked to the train station and then took the one hour trip to Pisa. We first walked down to the Campo dei Miracoli (the area of miracles). In this area, there are four key buildings - the Battistero, the Duoma (Catherdral), the Camposanto, and the Leaning Tower (the bell tower). We bought a pass to tour all of them - we were surprised by the austerity of the Battistero (where the baptisms occured) and the ornateness of the Duoma. It was much more ornate and over the top than the interior of the Duoma in Florence. We had a nice time walking around, but I think none of us were as impressed by Pisa. It seemed more run down and had lots of graffiti.
