We left Cinque Terre at about 8:00 am and headed to the train station on our way to Florence. We stopped at our first short layover and bought some lunch stuff - we made sandwiches on the train.
When we arrived at the Florence train station, we decided to walk to our apartment. We had rented the Florence apartment about 2 months ago off the Internet - the management company contacted us about 3 weeks ago and asked if we would be willing to switch because the original apartment was near an area where construction was going on. He indicated we could have an apartment with an outdoor terrace for the same price. We agreed hoping that it wasn't a "switch and bait" situation. It turned out that our apartment is unbelievable - a half a block away from Duomo. See us waiting on the street for the manager to come and let us in. None of us could believe it when we walked in and saw it.
We walked to the grocery store and got dinner ingredients - we made a pesto chicken dinner that we had on our terrace under the Duomo.
