A Day of Traveling

We got up early because we had a day of travel ahead of us - what can I say, we had some stressful moments. Part of it was just being new to using the GPS - for example, we forgot to mark the car rental place where we had to return our car as a "favorite," so we weren't exactly sure where we had to go. We started out by putting in the airport, but then at one point, our GPS quit working all together and we realized we didn't even have a map in the car. Note to selves - always mark a place you need to go back to as a favorite, and always carry a map, too!

Then we got to the train station - we stood in two lines that it turned out we didn't need to do - but in the end, everything turned out fine. We had 3 different connections and we made them all. Neither of us slept very well last night - note Greg sleeping on the train.

We got to Avignon, France where we rented a car for the final part of the trip to Montpellier. When we arrived at Montpellier, there was a huge festival in the city (people everywhere), rush hour traffic, a round about every two blocks - the GPS kept saying "RECALCULATE, RECALCULATE," - that essentially means you've messed up.

Finally we got to our apartment and managed to meet up with Fabrice, the manager. We learned we needed to pay for the entire amount upfront, so Fabrice walked us to a nearby ATM and we got the money out to pay him.

At about 6 pm, we were in the apartment and we called Steve and Jessica - it feels good to be here!

We also included a picture of our car that we rented in Chamonix so you could see the size - it is so noticeable here how most of the cars are really small - very different than in the USA.
